If you’re lucky enough already to have a mentor–someone well-versed in your industry and the challenges you face and ready to share his or her experience–then you’re set. If not, it’s worth looking around to find that source of expertise and inspiration.

Mentors are typically several rungs above you on the corporate ladder, and they can serve as confidante, advisor, and guide through the sometimes confusing world of office politics, career planning, and more.
